Scholarship Information
Legacy Scholars Program
The WGCSA Legacy Scholars Program is developed to recognize outstanding students and offer educational aid to children/stepchildren/grandchildren of WGCSA members who are active Class A, Superintendent Members, Class C, Class A-retired, or Class AA members who are in good standing with the association. Children/stepchildren/grandchildren of deceased members are eligible if the member was currently active at the time of his or her death. The (3) $500 awards will be funded by the WGCSA and administered by the Board of Directors of the WGCSA. Scholarships will be awarded based on the availability of funding. Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee Chairman and three WGCSA Members. All decisions of the committee will be final. Applicants will be notified by mail of their status by November 15 of the year submitted. All scholarship award check(s) will be made payable to the applicant.

Monroe Miller Literary Scholarship
In 2008, the WGCSA introduced the Monroe S. Miller Literary Scholarship to be awarded annually to the top student written article, graduate or undergraduate. The article has to be published in the Grass Roots in the calendar year to be eligible. The panel selecting the award recipient will be the vice president of the Association, Dr. John Stier of the UW – Madison Department of Horticulture, and Monroe Miller. The award will be presented at the spring WGCSA business meeting in March. The criteria will be based on innovativeness, creativity, impact, quantity and quality. The annual award is in the amount of $ 1000.00.
